Statement of Workplace Culture

At Five Keys, we treat all people with respect. We communicate calmly and respectfully with our students and colleagues. We are not concerned with why a student is incarcerated or why a student is utilizing the services of our community partners, but rather we are concerned about where they are in the education process and how we can help them succeed. We have a sense of urgency in meeting the needs of our students. We do not judge our students or colleagues or make assumptions about their backgrounds. We work together cooperatively and professionally for the success of our students. Our students, our colleagues, our community partners and the Sheriff's Department staff are our customers for which we strive to provide the highest level of service at all times.

Nondiscrimination Statement

Five Keys is committed to providing a work/school environment that provides equality, respect, and dignity. Harassment is a form of misconduct that undermines the workplace and school community, violates the respect for fellow workers/students, lowers morale and productivity, and causes absenteeism. In general, harassment is behavior that is not welcome and is offensive to others. Harassment of any other person, including, but not limited to, fellow employees, visitors, clients or students, whether at work or outside of work, is grounds for immediate termination.

This policy forbids any unwelcome conduct in the workplace that is based on an individual’s age, ancestry, citizenship, color, marital or parental status, national origin, political affiliation, pregnancy, race, religion, sex or gender, perceived sex or gender, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, physical or mental disability, medical condition unrelated to the person’s ability to perform the job, or the perception that a person is associated with a person who has or is perceived to have any of these characteristics. In addition, this policy prohibits discrimination and harassment on any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law, ordinance or regulation.

The conduct prohibited by this policy, whether verbal, physical, or visual, includes any unwelcome conduct that adversely affects an individual because of his or her protected status. Among the types of unwelcome conduct prohibited by this policy are: epithets, slurs, negative stereotyping, intimidating acts, and circulation or posting of written or graphic materials that show hostility toward individuals because of their protected status. The company prohibits such conduct in the workplace, even if the conduct is not sufficiently severe or pervasive to constitute actionable harassment under law.

Five Keys will not tolerate harassment or discrimination of any kind. Five Keys will make every reasonable effort to ensure that its entire community is familiar with this policy and that all employees are aware that every complaint received will be investigated and resolved appropriately.
