Sunny Schwartz is a nationally recognized expert in criminal justice reform who has devoted her three decade career to reforming traditional incarceration well characterized by the stereotype of "idle and wasted down time." Ms. Schwartz and Sheriff Hennessey founded Five Keys Charter School in 2003, the first in the nation Charter School for incarcerated and post release adults.

Ms. Schwartz is the author of the bestselling book, Dreams from the Monster Factory, a personal memoir that highlights the Resolve to Stop the Violence Project an internationally recognized, award–winning restorative justice program that brings together traditionally opposing groups in order to comprehensively confront the costs of violence.

Ms. Schwartz and both the RSVP and Five Keys initiatives to stop crime have been featured on national television including The Oprah Winfrey show, PBS, and Larry King Live, and both programs have been the recipient of the prestigious " Oscars in Government" Innovations in Government Award, sponsored by the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University and the Ash Institute.
